"The Porziuncola, a holy door always open"

From July 29th to August 3rd, Assisi experiences one of its most intense and heartfelt spiritual moments: the Solemnity of the Pardon of Assisi.

An event that this year holds an even deeper meaning, fitting into the journey of the VIII Centenary of the passing to Heaven of Saint Francis.

As remembered by the Custodian of the Porziuncola, Brother Massimo Travascio:

"Today the world does not need new walls, but open doors. The Porziuncola continues to be that door that the Saint of Assisi handed over to the Church: a threshold of mercy where no one is a stranger, no one is excluded, and no one is without hope."

Program and useful information:

From July 29th to 31st: Triduum of preparation for the celebrations.

August 1st (11:00 am) : Solemn Opening of the Pardon of Assisi.

Location: Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli, Porziuncola.
